Lindsay Hightower of Hightower Band has given an original resonating pitch and harmonically known sound to her gaining audience over the past several years. Originally from Dublin Texas, the Fort Worth Weekly 2016 nominee’s talents have taken the musician to Stephenville’s Opry, Los Angeles California, Tennessee and back to her roots in the Lone Star State 45 minutes south of Fort Worth in Glen Rose.

The Front Woman says she is grateful to have an early upbringing surrounded by musicians who helped mold and shape her sound. Giving a good foundation for the musician’s talents to blossom.

“Both of my grandmothers played piano, one being a music teacher,” She says. “My father played guitar and mother piano, she would always play ‘Smoke Gets in Your Eyes,’ by the Platters.”

Growing up in the ’80s and ’90s Hightower’s two older brothers played a part in the musicians musical influences as most siblings do. “That’s the only music you can get your hands on that isn’t from your parents,” she says. “’90s hip-hop and grunge on repeat.”

With artists of several genres and from different time periods introduced by friends and family the small town musician was eager to travel, carrying her musical talents to other parts of Texas and outside of the state.

“Living in a small town there aren’t many venues to play, but Stephenville Opry was my first gig, she says. “I was so anxious my knees were knocking together like a cartoon character.”

With the help of Johnny Duncan, an acclaimed country singer born in Dublin, Hightower was asked by the acclaimed musician to perform with his band; that is when Hightower said she was really hit by the music bug.

As for now, Hightower Band’s Jacob Martinez (bass, backup vocals and harmonic songwriter) as well Douglas Baxter (guitar, backup vocals and songwriter) and Paul Davis (drums, harmonics, songwriter and vocalist) have played with Front Woman Hightower for over two years.

Hightower says the band is a big part of her life with weekend performances in Dallas and Fort Worth, Hightower says when she’s not performing she keeps herself busy with different crafts such as painting, and is currently taking weekly guitar lessons.

“Learning an instrument is the vehicle to turn those thoughts into music. Listening and comprehending what my band mates think as well. That is important to me.”

Hightower Band is currently not under any label but say they have enough original material and are ready to record their second album after their first release, Echo Spring

“We are doing this one completely opposite. We wrote the music, we’re playing the music and now we’re doing the album,” she says. “We’ve put in the hours so we’re ready.”

The band will be performing this Friday, February 23 at one of their favorite venues, Gas Monkey.

“Great energy from a crowd makes for a completely different experience than when there’s a smaller crowd,
but we enjoy that too,” Lindsay Hightower
